IS HOMOSEXUALITY A SIN?
According to Scripture, yes. And a person is NOT born gay despite what some scientists say. It
is one of the most degrading forms of demonic bondage that Satan has shackled mankind with.
Howard Pittman, in his fascinating true-life book " Demons - An Eyewitness Account "
recounts having died and was taken on a tour of Satan's domain. He tells of the demons of sexual
perversion being despised and shunned by the entire demonic kingdom and how other demons
work with them only if assigned to do so by Satan.
People have been freed from this awful bondage through the saving power of Jesus Christ, and
are now married and living healthy lifestyles. Those who seek to live a godly lifestyle but are still
bound by these perversions can be delivered by having these demons cast out of them.
However there is a growing movement that states that people are born gay, and they can be gay
and still be a Christian.
Let's take a look at one of the foundational arguments for this in the light of Scripture.
"JESUS NEVER SPOKE AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY!"
True, He never did. He didn't need to, as the Law of Moses had already spoken on this issue and the Jews of His time were well aware of the commandment of;
LEVITICUS 18:22
22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination.
However, the apostle Paul spoke of these things to the Gentiles as they weren't bound by the Law, and his writings have the authority accorded to Scripture. And as his writings are considered as Scripture, they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. As the apostle Peter said,
2 PETER 1:19-21
19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;
20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,
21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were
moved by the Holy Spirit.
Peter knew that Paul's writings were inspired by the Holy Spirit, and were given the force of Scripture when he said of Paul,
2 PETER 3:14-17
14 Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless;
15 and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation—as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you,
16 as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
Note that Peter includes Paul's letters as being among "the rest of the Scriptures". Therefore Peter
through the Holy Spirit gave his stamp of approval to Paul's writings as Scripture.
Paul also spoke of the divine inspiration of Scripture when he said;
2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
And Paul in turn wasted no words when it came to such acts as homosexuality. He boldly proclaims;
ROMANS 1:16-27
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,
25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.
27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
Paul, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit says that those who practice such abominable acts
are without excuse, and will receive in themselves the just punishment for their actions that they
are due. As shown in the verses above, Paul considers homosexuality to be a willful act, not an
"accident of birth". And since his words have the authority of Scripture inspired by the Holy
Spirit, the Holy Spirit is giving His judgement of these acts through Paul.
If God had created people to be homosexual from birth He would be unjust to sentence these people to Hell after death for their works as they would not have any choice in their actions. But Paul flatly states;
1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-11
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,
10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
Note: The Greek word for "abusers of themselves with mankind" is the word "arsenokoites" meaning Sodomites, taken from the city of Sodom in the book of Genesis in the Old Testament. As most people know, Scripture records that the men of Sodom, Admah, Zeboiim and Gomorrah were homosexual and were destroyed when an asteroid exploded over the cities, sent by God for their immorality as an example of His judgement on those who practice such a lifestyle. (Genesis, chapters 18 and 19)
Note also, that Paul in the above Scripture verses puts homosexuals in the same class as
drunkards, extortioners and thieves, showing that such a lifestyle is a willful act, not a
predestination from birth!
Paul also says of such things;
1 CORINTHIANS 3:16-17
16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
Would the Holy Spirit dwell in a temple that is constantly defiled by what He considers to be acts of abomination? If God created man as homosexual from birth, that makes Him imperfect, for the verses above state that if our bodies, His temple, are defiled He will destroy the individual who defiles His temple.
And if people who were "born homosexual" have been delivered from demonic homosexuality through deliverance and redemption in Jesus Christ, that means that God has had to correct an error that He made at the birth of the individual! This being the case, He would have to apologize to the men of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the entire Scriptures would be suspect of being in error.
God is perfect, and does not make mistakes. Therefore He would not make men
homosexual from birth as He in His wisdom created men and women as mates and life
companions. Besides, He told Adam and Eve to be fruitful, and multiply; and unless there
is a miracle of genetics that science has not discovered yet, homosexuality does not bring
forth children!
God made a perfect choice as to relationships between His children. As Genesis records,
GENESIS 2:18, 21-24
18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.
22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they
shall become one flesh.
Note that Adam says that he and the woman will become one flesh. God never meant for men to
become one flesh through the sexual act! He also says that Man shall be joined to his wife, not to
his fellow man! As the expression goes, it was Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve!
Paul also reminds his readers,
I CORINTHIANS 11:9
9 Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.
Jude, brother of James and one of the brothers of Jesus also spoke out against such lifestyles when he said;
JUDE 1:7
7 ... as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Jude states that the men of Sodom, Gomorrah, and the other surrounding cities are suffering
God's vengeance of eternal fire in Hell, and were destroyed by God as an example of His
judgement on this lifestyle.
I'm sure that some will think that I hate or despise gay people, and that is not the case. If I hated
or despised them, I would merely remain silent and let them go to Hell after death. I do hate the
awful bondage they are under and would love to see them made free through Jesus Christ, but
they have to make that choice; no one can make it for them.
And as Paul told Timothy;
2 TIMOTHY 4:2-4
2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;
4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.
I take God's warning to the prophet Ezekiel seriously when He said,
EZEKIEL 3:17-21
17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me:
18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
19 Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
20 “Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.
21 Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul.”
Ezekiel had it easy. He was to be a watchman to the house of Israel, whereas we Christians are
watchmen to the world. It is our duty, under imperative command of our Lord to reach the lost
and to expose the works of darkness wherever we see them.
Paul warns in Ephesians;
EPHESIANS 5:5-12
5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
I have proven to you who read this that homosexuality is condemned by Scripture, and is
considered by God to be a willful act of abomination, not an accident of birth. As such, you who
read this are now responsible for this knowledge.
If you are gay or lesbian, you can be delivered through the power of Jesus Christ, and be freed
from this awful demonic bondage. God never meant for men or women to be homosexual, and
He considers such acts to be an abomination in His sight.
You also cannot be actively gay and be a Christian for if God has condemned such a lifestyle,
then you cannot be His disciple. Both the Old Testament Law and the New Testament Scriptures
are clear on these things, and as Paul states in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 above, those who practice
such a lifestyle will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Our bodies are God's Temple, and He
will not stay in a demon-infested Temple where abominations are practiced.
Jesus loves you, even if you are gay or lesbian and he understands the terrible bondage you are suffering. And He will help you, but only if you are serious about being free from this lifestyle. It won't be easy, for once the demons are cast out they will try to get back in, or influence you from the outside. But if you stay close with Jesus, you will win, and you will be free from this sin.
And I pray to the Father that Jesus Christ may free those of you who are homosexual from Satan's chains, and that you might enjoy abundant life through Jesus Christ.
